Planning

Plans have changed a bit for the rest - we go from Atherstone directly to Wroclaw Poland but are taking the chance to go on a City Night Line Train from Paris to Berlin - which will be fun. So its Britrail to London, Chunnel train to Paris, Paris to Berlin and then the next morning Berlin to Wroclaw... we hope to have time to explore the area a little and see the towns where my great grandfather's parents were born, then Bill will work at 3M Monday Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday its hop back on a train to Berlin, night train to Paris.

We will end up with one night near the Charles De Gaulle airport - tried to stay at the same place - Hotel Le Prieure, an old rectory of the nearby church in Ermenonville - where we stayed in 1993 but although it was in business as recently as 2009, we can't find that it is still in business so chose instead the Chateau d'Ermenonville, a beautiful setting in a castle dating back to the 1400's in a parklike grounds by a lake. But just 20 minutes from the Paris airport.

  1. We stayed in the Hotel de Prieure one year too in the 90s. I remember it being a little run down and we panicked in the morning when we realized our car was parked in a locked courtyard and we had a plane to catch. As I recall all was resolved. Hope you enjoyed the Chateau. Also remember seeing that and it was quite impressive.
